Aliases: Aegon the Conqueror, Aegon the Dragon
Culture: Valyrian
Allegiance: House Targaryen
Aegon I Targaryen, known as Aegon the Conqueror, was the first Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and king on the Iron Throne. He conquered six of the Seven Kingdoms with his sister-wives Visenya and Rhaenys and their three dragons: Balerion, Vhagar, and Meraxes. His conquest began in 2 BC and culminated in 1 AC when he was crowned in the Starry Sept of Oldtown.
Aegon united the fractured kingdoms of Westeros under one rule, creating the Iron Throne from the swords of his vanquished enemies. His conquest established a dynasty that would last nearly 300 years and fundamentally changed the political landscape of Westeros.
The Targaryen calendar begins with Aegon’s Conquest. His administrative reforms, including the creation of the office of Hand of the King and the establishment of King’s Landing as the capital, shaped the governance of Westeros for centuries. His legacy includes both the unity he brought and the destruction wrought by dragonfire.
