“Winter is Coming”
The largest and most sparsely populated region of Westeros, spanning from the Neck to the Wall. A land of ancient godswoods, frozen rivers, and proud people who remember the old ways.
The North has been ruled by the Starks for eight thousand years, since Bran the Builder raised Winterfell and the Wall. The North was an independent kingdom until Torrhen Stark bent the knee to Aegon the Conqueror, earning the title "the King Who Knelt." The Northerners joined Robert's Rebellion and later supported Robb Stark's bid for independence as King in the North.
Cold and harsh winters lasting years, brief cool summers. Snow covers much of the land year-round. The further north, the harsher the conditions.
Northern culture values honor, loyalty, and the Old Gods above the Faith of the Seven. They keep the old ways, maintain direwolf as their symbol, and remember the Long Night.
Can muster 20,000+ soldiers. Strong cavalry and infantry. Renowned for determination in the cold.
